In June each year, the South of England Show is held at Ardingly Showground, just three miles from where Woodland Products is located at Woodland Centre in West Hoathly. The Show is an important event, attracting over 90,000 visitors from across Europe.
We took the opportunity of the 2008 Show, from 5th to 7th June, to launch our Chainsaw Carvings. We had on display pieces from the full range of sizes we produce. At one end of the range, our wooden flowers proved very popular and, at the other, the 750 Kg oak ‘Meaning of …’ statue of a hooded, cloaked figure certainly attracted a great deal of attention.
Although the logistics of moving carvings there and back was ‘interesting’, the Show was a great success for us and achieved exactly what we wanted. We sold lots of carvings, made many useful contacts and made people aware of us and our sculptures.
